| A BRIEF HISTRY The fellowship established in 1982 under the able leadership of Pastor Brown who was later called to Elliot. In the ensuing years meetings took place in the town library hall and then in the Methodist hall in Van Riebeeck street. It was during this time that Rev Frikkie Labuschagne began his ministry here in Maclear. September 1990 saw the construction of a church building in Mill Street and in 1996 the facilities expanded to include a manse on the same property. Rev Jannie Goss assumed responsibility for the congregation in June that same year and April 2001 saw the arrival of Rev Mike & Jenny Heppes who took the reigns but Jenny's ill-health required that they return to the warmer climate of Natal. OUR PURPOSE STATEMENT The Maclear Baptist Church exists to bring people in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and into membership in His family, develop them to Christlike maturity and equip them for their ministry in the church and life mission in the world, in order to magnify God's name.
