A BRIEF HISTORY

The fellowship established in 1982 under the able leadership of Pastor Brown who was later called to Elliot. In the ensuing years meetings took place in the town library hall and then in the Methodist hall in Van Riebeeck street. It was during this time that Rev Frikkie Labuschagne began his ministry here in Maclear. September 1990 saw the construction of a church building in Mill Street and in 1996 the facilities expanded to include a manse on the same property. Rev Jannie Goss assumed responsibility for the congregation in June that same year and April 2001 saw the arrival of Rev Mike & Jenny Heppes who took the reigns but Jenny's ill-health required that they return to the warmer climate of Natal. In November 2002 Rev Ian & Gail Karshagen responded to a call. God shuffled and dusted and led the congregation to embark on an exciting programme of building and reviewing their mandate in the Maclear region.

The construction of a hall complex began in March 2005 and is nearing completion, thanks to the benevolence of God's people and to His provision and grace. The Maclear Christian School was established in January 2008 to cater for Grades R and Foundation Phase. The facility is a private school and is affiliated to Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).

2009 Will see the opening of an Intermediate Phase, Playschool and a private after-care facility.
